Holiday Card Campaign - 2007
Thank you to everyone who helped to make his year’s Card Campaign a great
success. One hundred percent of our $10,000 in sales will support
Causeway Work Centre’s innovative and successful Wellness Program. The
card package with Sylvio Gagnon’s paintings of skaters on the Rideau Canal
and Brown’s Inlet were very popular and sold out, while the wintery photographs
of Parliament Hill were a hit - particularly with our corporate clients.
Causeway clients will continue to benefit from the Wellness Program’s improved
Card Campaign funded facility in 2008.
Ottawa Race Weekend - 2007
Runners and walkers in various Race Weekend events
raised a total of $2,800 for Causeway Foundation. Those carrying
pledges included Co-Executive Director Don Palmer who completed
the marathon, Foundation President Dianne Breton who took part
in the 5K Walk & Run and some eight members of the Work
Centre’s Wellness Program who entered the 2K Family Walk.
Holiday Card Campaign - 2006
This was our sixth Card Campaign and it was also our most successful to date.
We raised more than $13,000 in support of Causeway Wellness Campaign. The
Foundation Fundraising Committee along with our 20 participating retail outlets
deserves the credit for this successful camping. Thanks to the generosity
of our donors and sponsors, every dollar raised will go directly to Causeway’s
innovative and successful Wellness Program for the purchase of exercise equipment.
Ottawa Race Weekend - 2006
This
year the Race Weekend was held on May 27-28. This
year there were more participants than ever, with staff and
volunteers running in a variety of race including the full
marathon, half-marathon, 10km and 5km races. Nicholas Galambos,
a long-time Causeway supporter, completed the full marathon
and Co-Executive Director Don Palmer ran the half-marathon.
There was also a group of dedicated runners from the Causeway
staff composed of first time runners who rallied together and
trained for the 5k and 10k races. The weekend was a huge success
for the Causeway Team, who could be identified by their new
running duds; a blue t-shirt with the slogan: “changing
minds about mental illness… because mental health is
a lifelong marathon”. With
your help, we were able to raise over $2,000.00! Thank you!
An Evening of Sweet Treats
The Foundation hosted a hugely successful ‘Evening
of Sweet Treats’ on Thursday, February 2, 2006 raising
$2,000. A large group crowded into the Causeway cafeteria to
enjoy desserts and coffee, great live music supplied by Carol
Alette and Stephen Hayward, a silent auction and the drawing
of the winning tickets in the Sweet Dreams Raffle. The
big winner is Wellness: This program receives the proceeds
from the Sweet Dreams Raffle and An Evening of Sweet Treats.
Sweet Dreams Raffle
The winning tickets in the Sweet Dreams Raffle were
chosen and the lucky winners are … Robert Ducharme won
first prize the beautiful Hand-stitched Quilt donated by the
Ottawa Valley Quilters Guild. Toronto Getaway Package including
round-trip VIA Rail tickets, two nights in The Fairmont Royal
York Hotel, Art Gallery of Ontario passes and suitcases went
to Bill Potter. Clubhouse Passes to the 2006 Cisco Systems
Ottawa Bluesfest were won by Jill Mutzeneek and the Wakefield
Mill Getaway, including steam-train tour, accommodations for
two including breakfasts and dinners went to Nancy Smart. Congratulations
to all! Special thanks go to Anna Jasinski
of the Kiwanis Club of Bytown for her efforts selling our raffle
tickets. This event raised $3,000.

2005 was the fifth year that Causeway Foundation used
greeting cards to raise funds. It was also our most successful
to date. More than 1,000 card packs were sold and $10,600 raised.
The Foundation Fundraising Committee along with our wonderful

Open House - 2005
Our annual Open
House was held at Causeway Work Centre on Thursday,
October 6, 2005 unveiled a comprehensive menu of employment programs
and pre-employment services for persons with severe mental illness
and other disabilities and those who are homeless or at risk.
National Capital Race Weekend - 2005
The
annual Race Weekend was held from May 27-29. Co-Executive Director
Don Palmer competed again this year. The Foundation’s Amie
Gibson had also entered. A pre-race pub night at the Arrow & the
Loon on Bank Street was held on May 26th. We would like to thank
all those who pledged Amie, Don or any of our 10 volunteer runners.
With your help, we were able to raise over $1,300.00 -thank you!
Walk of Hope - 2005
The
annual 3 km “Walk of Hope” was held at Parliament
Hill on May 29th. The event was sponsored by the Schizophrenia
Society of Ottawa and various local mental health agencies took
part, including Causeway. Work Centre members walked again this
year with pledges solicited from family and friends. Causeway
was able to raise more than $400.00.
CBC Radio’s Share Central
CBC Radio's
Share Central was a full day of holiday revelry at the new
studio on Queen Street, Friday, December 10th, 2004. Visitors
were welcomed in from the cold to watch the radio shows on
the air and to donate to four worthy charities: the Causeway
Foundation, The Shepherds of Good Hope, Operation Go Home,
and Christie Lake Kids. Gifts of cash, warm clothing and
non-perishable food items were accepted in the lobby of the
CBC building. Monetary donations reached $20,800 with Causeway
collecting $4,550 of that total. There's more good news!
Julia and Greg Cottingham, on hearing that Causeway was raising
funds to purchase a vehicle, donated their 1993 Dodge Caravan-LE
to the Centre. The van is on the road and used by Krackers
Katering to pick-up groceries, deliver food orders and service
their catering clients. Our heartfelt thanks go out to the
Cottinghams and to everyone at CBC for including Causeway
in this very successful charity event.
Holiday Card Campaign - 2004
The 2004 campaign, led by Judy Maclean, raised $6,660, which will be used towards
the purchase of a new vehicle for Causeway. The cards featured four original
art works and for the first time, custom printing of a personal message or
business logo was available for large orders. The Foundation’s Fundraising
Committee, assisted by 20 participating Ottawa retailers, sold over 600 card
packages. Special thanks to major sponsors, the Royal Bank, TriCo Printing
Group and Banfield-Seguin Ltd. whose generous help defrayed our costs.
Open House - Oct. 2004
Causeway Work Centre’s annual Open House took place on Monday October
4, 2004. Krackers Katering new facilities were officially opened with cooking
demonstrations by Frederic Filliodeau, Executive Chef of Signatures at Le Cordon
Bleu; Gay Cook, Food Columnist with The Ottawa Citizen; and David Coyne, “Chef
Dave” of Loblaws. Coinciding with Mental Illness Awareness Week, the
event included displays, facility tours and presentations by staff and Causeway

Spirit 2004 - Ultimate Charity
Tournament
This year's event at Gloucester Hornets Nest proved to be a success in raising
the public awareness of metal health issues in our community. The players from
the Ottawa Carleton Ultimate Association rallied together to raise $29,000.00
in pledges.Thanks to all our sponsors, players and volunteers for your support.
Holiday Card Campaign - 2003
In Fall 2003, Causeway launched its third annual Holiday Card campaign. Cards
were available through Causeway volunteers and staff, and at selected retail
outlets in Ottawa and the surrounding area. The Fundraising Committee would
like to thank everyone who supported this Holiday Campaign. We sold 500 packages
of cards and raised $5,000.00 for Causeway.

Causeway Open House - Oct 2003
The annual Causeway Open House was held Monday, October 6th, 2003. Coinciding
with Mental Illness Awareness Week, the event included displays, facility
tours and presentations by staff and Causeway consumers.
Mental Health Fair - Oct 2003
The Ottawa Chapter of the Schizophrenia Society is organized a Mental Health
Fair at the Royal Ottawa Hospital, 1145 Carling Avenue on Tuesday, October
7th. The fair offered organizations, such as Causeway, an opportunity to
inform the public and other agencies of their programs and services.
Catch the Spirit 2003 - Ultimate Charity Tournament – On
Saturday, September 13, 2003, Causeway joined with other local
charities for an intensive one-day tournament to be held at
the Nepean National Equestrian Park. The day was a great success;
see you next year!
Walk of Hope - May 2003
The Wizard of Hope Walk for Schizophrenia and Mental Illness took place on
May 25, 2003. Causeway members and volunteers participated in this walk-a-thon,
organized by the Ottawa Chapter of the Schizophrenia Society, raising more
than $2700 for the Causeway Foundation.
Tara Players – March 2003
On March 6th, Tara Players of Ottawa hosted a benefit performance in support
of the Causeway Foundation. The play, Blackwater Angel, by Jim Nolan, explores
the healing power of faith raised approximately $5,000 for Causeway.
Holiday Card Campaign - 2002
2002 marked the second year of Causeway’s holiday card campaign, which
saw volunteers and staff selling pre-packaged holiday cards to friends, family
and Causeway supporters. The cards were also available in select retail outlets
in Ottawa and the surrounding area. This fundraiser generated $3000 for Causeway,
which will be directed to the new learning centre project.
